In this blog, I am going to share a list of self-transformation tools that was given to me when I embarked on my Yogic journey by enrolling in M.Sc. Yoga Therapy program offered by S-VYASA, a deemed Yoga University, based in Bengaluru, India.
Our M.Sc. batch had around 160 students!
Given the fact that we are from all our India and the World, in different age groups starting from 20+ to 70+ years, and having various reasons (from starting a career in Yoga / Yoga Therapy to self-realization) for taking up this Master program, we are quite a microcosm!!
During the First Semester, we had Yoga Philosophy & Health as one of the subjects. While teaching this course, our Guru, Dr. Usha Katyayani, an accomplished Ayurveda Doctor, Masters in Yoga Therapy, and a faculty member of S-VYASA University, not only made the subject interesting, but also set us off on a self-transformation path by providing us with a list of suggestions:
- Be Mindful
- Do Volunteering (Karma Yoga)
- Practise Yoga
- Go Green
- Engage in Spiritual Activity
- Learn to Let-Go
- Have an Attitude of Gratitude
- Smile & Make Things Fun
She urged us not to view this program as just another degree on our resume, but as a golden opportunity to transform ourselves.
Also, we had to write how we adopted these self-transformation suggestions as one of our Assignments (yes, this counted toward our total marks!), which reinforced the pointers taught during the class and provided a framework to work with:
I hope these self-transformation tools will help you as well.
I would like to add an important note before concluding this article:
Yoga and Spirituality are subjective sciences. Just mere reading will not help. One needs to experiment with these concepts on his / her own and experience the effects. Based on my personal experience, I can vouch for the positive effect of Yoga and Spirituality when practised with faith and perseverance.
